Always busy

Well, i might not have posted for a wee while but we have been busy. The house is now all packed up and in storage with only large pieces of furniture left. I've dumped books, clothes, cds, dvds, bookcases, cd players, pcs, chairs, lamps, photos, clocks etc etc etc etc etc etc in to a studio at work! Great. A perk of the job. It means they have to be cleared out before term sarts again, but maybe a bit of pressure will be good.

As for the big pieces of furniture... i'm not sure on that one yet.

It is liberating not having any belongings - i am tempted to sell them all on ebay and become a hippy.

We had the roof fixed this week too. I got some roofers in to do the work as I didn't much fancy it, or fancy getting it wrong! I originally contacted them to replace 2 broken tiles - one on each side, but a bit more poking revealed all the felt on the lower half of the roof was rotting. We could have left it and it might have been alright for years, or it might have started to let water in tomorrow. SO we plumped to get the work done now rather than the potential false economy of holding off. I wouldn't recommend them - i wasn't too impressed, but the job seems to be ok on the whole. I won't slander their name - they know where i live.

So that expense plus a new set of tyres on the car and some other minor repairs means our budget has taken another battering - which also means that when i put my amazing 'plaster costs' spreadsheet together to calculate how much it will be in materials to do the house - it was a doubly painful blow.

With roof, windows, render, cars, insurance paid for and an MOT looming our plan for the summer is to simply re-plaster and do any essentials along the way - like wiring etc. Then we will consolidate before doing the fun stuff like putting the fire in etc.

One must not overspend.

We have a week off now - and then pops Ward is visiting to join in with the demolition of our small house while Hannah goes to Ma Wards house to bake cakes. Stereotypes anyone?
